With all those I listed, people are by and large screaming for them to be taken out to pasture and left to die with their legacy intact, such as it can be. What is it about Star Wars that makes it immune to people wanting the same for it? I’ve never seen a fandom so ravenous for content, outside of Nintendo fanboys/girls. Tell them that every single game in every single Nintendo franchise is all the same as any other and watch as they lose their shit. This attitude of keeping things going, regardless of the quality, regardless of how little money it makes, just to get people in theaters and get people to cry while watching the trailer for reaction content on YouTube is just pathetic.
It’s exploitation of naive, well-meaning people who just want to recapture that feeling of joy and wonder from their childhood. Maybe an indictment on the world we live in, where everyone has so little going for them that they try to desperately cling to the joys of childhood as an escape from their vacant now. The tragedy of Star Wars is that I don’t think Rich Evans is right. There are creative ideas that could happen in this franchise. The gal who worked for Naughty Dog was making what looked like an amazing Uncharted-esque game about a smuggler.
